One early Sunday morning, Troy arrived on Skid Row where we serve our Lord and all whom He sends to us. Troy had come to us with a heavy heart, all the way from Texas.
“Can I have a Bible, and can I serve at your ministry?” he asked.
“Yes, of course,” I replied, not really expecting him to come back again.
But week after week, Troy kept returning to help us set up the chairs for church, and to serve the tables at lunch. He became one of our reliable volunteers. We planted the seed of the gospel in Troy, and invited him and other volunteers and church attendants to the 2017 Harvest Crusade. While there, Troy accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. God gave the growth – “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth.” (1 Corinthians 3:6) After the Crusade, we celebrated his new life and continued praying for him.
Soon after, Troy heard that his dad had passed away from a heart attack. We helped him make the trip home for his dad’s funeral. Troy was very firm in assuring me he would be back to serve the Lord at the “Church without Walls,” and asked me to baptize him. I advised him to seek God’s leading for where he should go next and what he should do. God spoke to brother Troy, and he has decided to remain in his hometown, work on a farm and study God’s word as he attends New Hope Church of Texas. I am waiting for the invitation to attend Troy’s baptism. Please pray for brother Troy, asking God to strengthen his faith, confidence and encouragement.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY. Hallelujah!
Romans 8:27–30
“27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. 29 For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30 And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.”
