Are You Hungry?

Doug: The scripture says that God blesses those who “hunger and thirst after righteousness” (Matt 5:6). I have found that my life gets out of balance when I hunger for anything else. All around me I see people hungering for more recognition, more success and more stuff.

I pray for a renewed God hunger. God is so much more than I have already experienced. Daily He invites me to “taste and see” (Ps 34:8). Jesus promises that all who come to Him shall never hunger because He alone is the bread of life (John 6:35). Only he satisfies our deepest hunger.

Cathy: One of the many diets I have tried over the years is the “Weigh Down Diet.” It teaches us to substitute reaching for the Bible instead of reaching for food when we are not really physically hungry. Like most diets, it involves commitment and consistency. Sigh.

Trust, Sincerity, and Faith

Matthew 17: 19-20  (NASB)
“Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not drive it out?” And He said to them, “Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.””

Tonight when I was serving at The Shepherd Church at Porter Ranch as a greeter, an elder man with nice suit walking with a cane headed straight toward me. He raised my hand and placed it on his forehead. He said, “I want you pray for me and my serious headache…” I hesitated a second and asked myself in my heart “Why me?!” A voice told me “Just do it.” I knew where the voice came from so I did. Twenty minutes later the man came back with big smile on his face and told me that he feels much better now. I told him that’s our Lord’s healing power and his faith healed him. And the verses of Matthew 17:19-20 immediately raised in my heart. That’s the Lord’s teaching – whenever we bless or pray for someone we need to have these elements – TRUST, SINCERITY, and FAITH. With God nothing is impossible!

A Lady Named Cuba

7/12/15 – A shy lady with a blossomy smile, a delightful attitude of life, full of gratitude……She is my lady, Cuba. I have known her over a year. God bonded us together. She taught me a great lesson of gratitude and JUST LOVE as God first loved us.We often complain about what we don’t have in our lives; job, money, kids… name it. We want more and more and more… never-ending desires, worldly desires.

Knowing Cuba I learned a life lesson of denying yourself, being humble, gracious… an unconditional love. So often we love others with conditions. Overlooking, discounting the people God has placed in our lives. They aren’t put there by chance. There is a divine purpose. Do you realize it and learn from it?! Discover what you learned today. Love you all.
